MeasureTexture

#1

Hi!

Is there somewhere a (mathematical) description of how the features in MeasureTexture are computed?

for instance, what is the mathematical definition of “inverseDifferenceMoment”, a.s.o.

Would be great if you could help.

Thanks,
Christian.

Hi Christian,

The texture features are taken from Haralick et al. (1973) Textural Features for Image Classification. IEEE Transaction on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, 3(6):610-621.

Hope this helps!,

And for future reference, in general, description of features (including references, like what Mark quoted) can be found in the help for the module in CellProfiler.

I’ve gotten the Harlick paper but have been having a hard time finding the Gabor one. Could you point me in the right direction on where I might be able to find it?

Cheers,

Peter

Hi Peter,

I found the Gabor paper (Gabor, D. (1946). “Theory of communication” Journal of the Institute
% of Electrical Engineers, 93:429-441)as a PDF here. As far as I know, it doesn’t require a subscription to access it.
