Trouble installing on MAC

#1

I believe I have the proper x11 installed. When I start the Cellprofiler.command file I get the following:

After looking through the forums I checked the echo $DISPLAY command and it is coming back with :0.0

fyi the version of x11 that is running is X11 1.1.3 - XFree86 4.4.0 on a MAC with OS X version 10.4.10

Hello,
Are you running CellProfiler on an Intel Mac or regular Mac? You may have downloaded the wrong version of CellProfiler.

Additionally, you can double-click on the “CellProfiler.command” file to start CellProfiler.

Please let me know if you are still having problems.

I deleted the previous folder and redownloaded to MAC-specific files. (Not intel-mac) and tried running the software only to get the same messages. If I double-click the Cellprofiler file I get the following in the terminal window:

Last login: Mon Jul 16 21:17:11 on ttyp1
/Users/jochenreiser/Desktop/MAC_CellProfiler_v1.0.4684/CellProfiler; exit
Welcome to Darwin!

If I double-click cellprofiler.command, in the terminal window I get:

and in the x11 terminal I get :

Hello,
I have recently updated the Mac version to fix the MCR problem that you have been experiencing. Please download the latest version of CellProfiler.

That seemed to do the trick as far as getting the software started BUT, now when I try to load pipelines or modules, it doesn’t recognize the existing files (in the file selection window all files are shown as inactive-grey regardless of having the correct file suffix .mat or .txt etc) I also saw the following in the terminal window :

/Users/jochenreiser/Desktop/Jack/MAC_CellProfiler_v1.0.4684/CellProfiler.command; exit

I’m not clear as to what is meant by latest version of matlab app-defaults but I believe the latest version of x11 is running (see original post)

at least progress has been made, thanks for your help so far

Have you changed your preferences to set the default module location? (This is an unavoidable step for setting up CellProfiler on any Mac platform.) To do so, go to File >> Set Preferences .

I had the same problem with my intel mac, I did download the 1.0.4684 version of CellProfiler, and I had the 1.1.1 version of X11. In the end I found an update to 1.1.3 on apple.com/support/downloads/ … 06113.html, now CellProfiler works fine.
